Please let me know if I have missed something, but from what I can see so far, Flash 8 is still very limited in the ways in which you can manipulate text. Features that have been in Adobe Illustrator for over a decade are still missing from Flash. You work with text as much in Flash as you do in Illustrator, so this feature is sorely missing. Things like text along a path, changing text to objects, etc. Note the attached picture. I often try to think outside the box - literally, and so often find myself working with curves. Text + curves is not very fun in Flash. So I have to manipulate each character by hand. Ugh.
