The best music format for Flash?

I was wondering what the best music format (e.g. .mp3) is when you have it running with Flash? For example, the music running on a website for the intro.

Also, where do you get your music and sound effects (for websites et all) from?

  • Make/Mix your own,
  • Purchase them from professional sites,
  • Have some nifty musical friends who make/mix them for you,
  • Other (please specify :)).

Thanks,
JK.

search flashkit or kirupaforum

I did actually search kirupaforum for “Sound format” and couldn’t find what I was looking for after about 5 minutes of searching :).

Anyway, FlashKit seems pretty useful and that thread you linked to seems to address the question indirectly.

well now that you can load external files i go with mp3’s. but otherwise my vote is wav

I think that’s what I’m going to go with when I start attempting to integrate sound into my Flash animations (i.e. when I start making decent Flash animations).

lol no problem man, yea it works well like that

Hmm… I was following the “creating a sound bar” tutorial and I have my own music file that I wanted to use but when I imported that and set it up, it doesn’t loop properly - there is a second or so of nothing added to it. Thus, it sounds pretty bad.

I know there is already a thread regarding this problem but it doesn’t explain how to solve it without having to use ActionScript to tell Flash MX to load the music file (and I’m not sure how to implement this into the sound bar that I have created following the tutorial).

If you know how to solve this problem, please let me know.

Thanks,
JK.
