So we did the customary, family gathering, over eating and partying. That is not the good part. While my wife and I were on the way home, we have to drive through a real bad part of Oakland (lots of homeless). So we get to a stop light and see this real young dude, digging in the garbage and eating what he finds. I look in my back seat and see all the left overs that we are taking home and probably will end up throwing away. So I pull over and basically start giving thanksgiving dinners out of my truck. When I ran out of food I went back to my Aunts house and grabbed more leftovers and brought them back down, and put alot of smiles on the faces of these homeless people.
I felt soooo good inside doing this. These people were really appreciative and thankful. One of the homeless people turned out to be an ex-Minister who because he got sent off to War came back kinda messed up and ended up like this. I talked with them for hours and some of them were actually smart and came from real colorful backgrounds. Anyway to make a long story short. I am actually glad I made acquaintance with a couple of them. I actually came away with a life altering experience and knowledge. I look at homeless people a little different now. Not to mention just the deed itself has my on like a little high. Felt good to give something so small, but meant mountains to the receiver.
