Hello,
I am not wure wheter or not timeline is the correct word for it, if it isn’t, feel free to let me know the right one. Anyways I am working on my first “real” game for the moment. Im busy working on the design documents and have now come to the part where I decide in which order what should be done. Since I only done clones of other games earlier, I haven’t really planned any game, guides and such has given me a clue of in which order I should work.
Anyways, it will be a tile-based game. It will contain ten levels, ten types of enemies, some various weapons and a boss or two (Not yet decided). Before I start to create the game I want to be sure that I make it “the right way”. Even though there might not be a “right way” there probably is a whole lot of wrong ways, and ways that are less rewarding.
I figured that I’ll do it in a order that looks something like this:
- Creating intro and menu
- Creating actual character, with moves and such
- Level-editor
- First level to test walls and such, along with making the game move on when a level is completed
- Remaining levels
- Enemies
- Weapons and upgrades (More than the standard)
- Outro
I figured that this would be a good way to progress. I would create a character, make it work completely before I put it on a map. After that I would be able to create the actual levels, and a smooth way to see that they work since there are no enemies. After that I figured I could start implenting the enemies one by one before I start messing around with different weapons and such.
To me it seems to be a good way to do it, but since I’m not sure, I figured I’ll ask some more experienced people.
Best Regards
