Ok then, how about this?

Ok, ok ok ok ok.

 I’ll stop being hard headed. I’ll start with something simplier.

I’d like help making a side scrolling hack and slasher. Almost like Megaman Zero. The character will use a sword, a gun, and an array of other weapons. I just want to know how to work out the level designing and such right now. and like how to make it so they fall back to the ground at a moderate rate… that kind of stuff. Just jumping, attacking, and moving around. nothing unnessarily special.

As far as designing the levelings. I was wondering if I could have it were I just make like precreated and programmed platforms and stuff and just move, copy, and place them where i want. The levels will range from towns(just like running through and stopping monsters from terrorizing folks, no real interaction with the people.)to completely vertical dungeons.

I think maybe I’ll have some RPG aspects, but I’m working on the easy stuff right now.

So, what I want to start off with is movement and level design. IS this too much to start with? I tihnk my sprites’ll probably be the size of those from Megaman & Bass (Rockman and Forte, for the people who played the japanese version.) I hope this is simple enough for me to start off, but I’m asking to see if it is. what do you think? Too hard to start with?

PS. the reason I’m asking and not just seeing ofr myself is because I have alot of stuff to do, so before I start something I can’t very well finish, I want to see if its simple enough for me to be able to work on it, then stop when I need to, then pick it up simply without it being too much trouble?

ARGH! Platformers are right up there next to RPGs in the difficulty level. It took me a *long * time to make one, and that is because I jumped into it before I could handle it. Might I suggest a shoot’em up game? They’re fun, and easy to make, and I would gladly assist you.

peace.

Yo! joMan!

I’m new to the Gaming side of Flash, and that is why I got it, I wanna make a simple first game, something that I could easily understand (as a n00b) and expand on.

I would love your help (and anyone else) to get me started.
:nerd:

And I would like to help :). Just tell me what kind of game you want to make, and I’ll do my best to help you. You can reach me at jaschneider1@charter.net.

geez…

a shoot’em ?? I don’t even have a story idea or concepts for that kind of game… all my other game ideas I’ve worked out and planned…

how am I supposed to make a game of a type I have no interest in…

…

I guess I’ll go with the simple game thing then expand it thingy… but I dun think I could pull off a shoot’em game… unless it was like doom maybe… heh… Doom with swords… that’d be nice…

but anyway. I’d be thrilled if you guys’ll really help me.

Well, the shoot’em up game was just a suggestion, but I am ready to help  (I have made a few in my past).

YEah there are many kinds of gmae you can make or just use some of the tutorials we some of us have posted all the time make em all and don’t worry about the whole big game thing most of us started doing that ,well as far as i know we did,and i know someone who did a frogger when they first started out, 'm sure there has to be something you can start out doing pinball might be easy but i’m not sure think the hardest part will be the math in that.

What would you reccomend for a first game?

Oh, and have you ever played Warioware, on the GameBoy Advance?

I don’t think its such a bad idea starting out with a platform game, because at least u can do it in stages, ie movement, jumping, enemies etc, helps break it up a bit and become less overwhelming.

I agree with Dr. Warm. Platformers aren’t even close to the tenacity that RPG’s demand. I can guarantee that statement.

If you need any help with this. Just ask.

Have I just not surfed the right areas, or are there very few RPG flash games?

So few I havn’t actually played one…

You are corect… Because it’s exremely hard to actually create a Flash RPG… And most people don’t want to spend the time to do one.

I have only seen one well programmed rpg game, but I turned it off cause it was very nasty.

Lol.

Hmm. How about an R-Type like game???

I think that’d be awesome, R-Type owns.

BTW: R-Type is a side scrolling shooter, like Space Invaders with a side view with stuff that can hit and kill you one hit, like space junk and stuff.

Good place to start ( Thats what I think).

R-type is an awesome game too

Sorry just quickly on the topic of rpgs, would it really be that hard to make one, after u built the engine especially with tiles, just need a new array, then a place for text etc. In the back of my mind I’ve been thinking of trying to recreate an old zelda game, but yeah i’ve not seen anything like it in flash.

BTW it should be pretty easy to make a side scroll shooter as there are many source flas around the place for them, check out flashkit

R-Type III is too fscking hard.
I mean I love Ikaruga and all that, but it’s just impossible, not VERY VERY hard.
