Start with those, then try a search in the Source/Experiment and Best of Kirupa forums for “gallery”. I suspect that most transitions are done with tweening so read up in the Help files or check this http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/tweening_03.htm.
Thing is, your description of “cool transitions” is a bit vague…you can create transitions by tweening the alpha values, or the colour values, or the shape of the movieclips…the list is pretty endless. There is an example fla in the MX/samples directory and there’s a tweening gallery tutorial here:
