Hi Guys,
I’ve been working on a Tower Defence game for the last couple of months, I feel that now its finally ready to be balanced and tested properly. Still some issues however and I’ll be speeding the A* algorithm up slightly, but only quite minor issues.
Here’s the link to the game:

Specifically it would be interesting to hear how the frame rates are on your computer. They should be around 18-22fps. This will help me decide whether I have to move to using bitmap rendering which I’m quite hesitant about.
its nice though seems kind of plane compared to the “defence tower” games I’ve come across
the controls aren’t obvious and seem clunky
thanks for the feedback, I’ll see if I can add some special effects to liven things up a bit and for it to seem a bit less plain. Also I restricted mouse movements as I thought that was something that slowed frame rates a bit (it was possible to stop the game by moving the mouse lots) but I fixed a few memory leaks and it seems ok again now, I’ll remove the restriction on mouse movements and see how it plays after…
Do you think extra sound effects, and explosions and blood graphics would go some way to making it seem less plain?
well I forgot, the enter buttons rollover doesn’t seem to be where the click to enter is…
well one game you either produce turrets or baracades, you just have turrets

Ah yes, a good example of my laziness
I’ll fix the rollover buttons tonight. Also add sound effects for Tower Construction, Creeps entering the scene and creeps successfully getting to the other side.
Good idea about the barricades, maybe I’ll allow users to build ‘walls’ to help funnel creeps into their maze as well as some extra effects.
Excellent feedback randomagain, its really appreciated
The difference between our game and gemtowerdefence is that ours is more of a Maze Defence game, users have to build a maze for creeps to run through, requiring creeps to intelligently find a path through the maze.
Here’s a screenshot of how mazes can look in the game.

it looks mroe fun at an advanced level
haha yea it gets quite intense fighting Eurofighters, Spitfires etc… But I think some extra effects to make the first few levels a bit more engaging wouldn’t go a miss.
Not bad… you really need to add in some more information about the game though.
Because I’ve played tower defence games before, I had a basic idea of what to do… but someone who has never played before wouldn’t know where to start. Maybe a few “how to play” frames would be good.
And also label every number you have on the screen. I didn’t know what each number relating to a tower meant. I could guess one was to do with money, but I’m not sure about the others.
I’d love to see what the finished product ends up like.
