PoliLam’s Seamless HPL line swaps the usual dark laminate edge for a matched, translucent finish, so light passes through both the surface and the sides for a cleaner, softer look.
That matched translucent edge is such a slick trick — ditching the usual dark line makes it read more like a solid panel, especially in that backlit sample.
I’d love to see what it looks like after a routed sink cutout or hinge drilling, because that’s where HPL edges usually get cloudy and sad fast.
Yeah, the machining is where the magic usually falls apart. I’ve had better luck keeping that “clean edge” look by doing a final light pass with a brand-new bit and then sealing the exposed core right away, otherwise it goes hazy the second it sees moisture or shop grime.
I’ve run into that too with translucent material—the edge can look clean at first, then shop dust and fingerprints start softening it fast. If you want that lit edge to stay sharp, sealing the core right away is pretty much mandatory.
