Two tricky effects = aspirin + tums

I have been working to uncover how this was done and I’m stumped again. The guys over at monolab are good! Here’s the site that has the two effects I’ve been trying to duplicate.

I’ve been trying to duplicate two things the “G3” logo forming from pieces and the little people that form from pieces on top of the menu.

1.) The “G3” logo I beleive was done with a swish max effect (here is a tut on that: http://www.swishzone.com/index.php?area=resources&tab=tutorials&do=page&action=detailed&link_id=128)

I was able to nail that effect down. However I noticed that there is a blur to the pieces that move into position. How the heck did they get that effect on top of the other one?

If that was not enough, how did they get the one logo to fall apart into a new logo behind it from the same pieces? Is there a way to play a swish effect backwards?

2.) Now after playing the movie over and over I noticed that the people forming from particles is actually the same movie effect over and over for each person on the menu. The pieces are always in the same position and move together the same way. I thought that this might also be a swish max effect but I’m not so sure because the pieces would be different for each person and they would not all form together at the same time from all sides. At least I have not seen an effect in swish that looks like this. I could be wrong…

Please help me put this one to bed! Thanks.
