This is related to my other post on this.
After trying both the old MediaDisplay components and the newer FLVPlayback component (both used from within Flash 8 Professional), it appears that the newer Flash player version 9 has issues when opening a net connection for a requested FLV. The initial connection takes upwards of a minute to engage in IE 6. I’ve experienced no issues with the same versions in Firefox. Is this an Active X/IE 6 thing?
I don’t have IE 7 as yet (not on my office workstation) and can’t say if this same behaviour happens there. If anybody with IE7 and player 9 could check out http://205.200.127.103/video.html for me and let me know if you’re still getting a long latency period before the FLV (any of them on that page) starts to load, I’d really appreciate the help.
I’m completely at a loss on this and my manager wants to drop Flash entirely and any mention of Flash video because of this.
