Hi, i am going to buy a new PC
but i have a problem, what is better,
- A Pentium 4 processor 3.06GHz with Hyper-Threading Technology
or
- A Pentium 4 processor 3GHz system bus 800MHz
???
or what’s the difference between them???
Hi, i am going to buy a new PC

hyper threading
but i heared that hyper threading doesn’t has 800 MHz bus or it has???
a friend also told me that both processors support HT!
now i’m confused
please help !!!
hyperthreading
oh, and i forgot to tell you that the 1st one has a system bus 533Mhz
Well…
Although 800mhz BUS speed is nice HTT makes the processor work faster, you would also need a new motherboard that supports an 800mhz BUS processor or else the 800 will be reduced to 533 (like your old one, so no gain there).
I’m gonna dig into that more now that I think of it, I would like to know what the real difference is.
EDIT
Hyper-Threading enables one CPU to perform somewhat like a multiple processor configuration (SMT). This technology was implemented on Intel’s server CPU’s and is now finally coming to the desktop market.
As you see, the CPU is going to be able to do more things at the same time.
EDIT
The second one does NOT have HTT, the first one is the first CPU that has HTT and a cpu speed over 3ghz but only with 533.
Intel is going to start releasing CPU’s with +3ghz, 800mhz bus and HTT later this year.
i searched and i found this:
here, it says that The Pentium 4 processor with an advanced 800 MHz system bus and supporting Hyper-Threading Technology is available at speeds from 2.40C GHz to 3 GHz, giving breakthrough performance on a variety of desktop PCs†
so maybe they are already out !
actually, i’m going to buy a dell dimension 8300, i accessed dell’s website, and when i choose customize it, it only says Pentium® 4 Processor at 3GHz with 800MHz front side bus
so, anyway, what’s the difference between 800Mhz bus and 533Mhz?

look, here they specify is 800MHz bus
If you buy a dell, make sure you get a decent gfx card…dell seem to be bundling crappy integrated ones these days :x .
It is a GeForce 4 64MB TV out
