Using opera instead of ie

I’m wondering if any of you use opera and what you think of it in comparision to ie.

Just came over from www.kirupa.com tutorials and decided to register. :thumb:

I personally use AvantBrowser, which is similar to Opera (some say it is the same), and I love it.

I rarely use IE anymore. I use AB, then Mozilla (Netscape), then IE, in that order…

I find very little difference in viewing anything on the web with Avant …

JMO tho.

I find browsing much faster with mouse gestures, saving sessions and the tons of other time saving methods available in opera.

I was suprised that they had not put more work into viewing the history though. Has AdvantBrowser got the ability to order history into date, site and so on like ie has.

yup, plus tabbed browsing, search for almost anything from a retractable side bar, etc…

Could you link me to a site to download advant browser.

Search engines not picking up what I want…

Thanks

Downloaded it from www.advantbrowser.com.

Once installed I can run it’s exe file and it takes over ie. This is not a browser. Its an enhancement of ie.

it doesn’t take over IE… IE still exists, and can be used as it’s own browser.

it is running on a psuedo IE engine tho…

I am speaking of Avantbrowser, not advant (don’t know what that is)…

www.avantbrowser.com

Opera also runs on this engine…

That is like saying that Mozilla isn’t a browser, just an enhancement of Netscape…

Neoplanet was an enhancment to IE, just a skin…

I meant avantbrowser also (typo)

I don’t know much about the inner workings of programs and such it just seemed like an addon to me. I meant “it takes over ie” to exaggerate. Opera is like it’s own program. Isn’t it?

So netscape and AB are all built up from morzilla and IE and opera are built up from something other technology. Am I right? As these browser’s are now more or less standards complient this does not bother me so much though.

The options to browse in a more powerful and faster ways is important to me are though.

I must go through what AB has to offer again when I have more time.

Thanks for telling what you use.

wow, just downloaded avantbrowser. its so cool!

After some heavy testing of avantbrowser I have concluded it offers more of what I want than opera.

The mouse gestures and intergrated search are just what I need. And that opera does not have the abilty to highlight the search terms, as with google’s tool bar (google’s toolbar does not work with opera, I wonder why) and I love to be able to go back on my history by site and date. Opera looks good with excellent designed skins but this is not enough for me.

I hope one day a browser will intergrate all the best features.

I’m wondering why m$ has not made ie7 yet. Are they? With the billions m$ has generated why they’ve not added more usibility to their browser is beyond me. They must have something very big up their sleave to let ie6 gather so much dust functionality wise. I suppose with a user base of around 80% (I guess) they don’t have to bother with investing in new features for the client convenience in mind, such as what avantbrowser has done and opera have managed.

:cyborg:

Yeah I use Avant Browser as well. I love it.
