Well there, I got quite bored of playing battlefield vietnam and the such so I decided to go back to waaaay older games, the ones that I use to play on DOS or Win3.x machines (or NEXT machines if you’ve ever seen them). I just want to share the joy it is to play them again…
- My first and all time favorite is Westwood’s Dune II
Predecessor of the Red Alert, Total Annihilation and C&C games, it can get quite difficult at times and although the graphics may seem poor to our youth :elderly: I assure you this game is fantastic.
- Then comes Scorched Earth
The goal of the game is to blow up the other tanks on the map (friends or CPU) using an enormous range of weapon. It had really cool sound and animations back then. Probably gave birth to the ‘Worms’ legacy. Totally renewed version of scorched earth is available for free here: http://www.scorched3d.co.uk/ !
- This is the one that probably none of the younger than 18 year olds on the boards might no about (and if you’re older and don’t consider yourself a geek, you won’t know it either), umoria, a D&D game, which I started playing when I was something like 8 and never ever finished (and god know I’ve played it for endless hours)… Yes it’s a text-based game (like your character is ‘@’ and ancient dragons, kick *** creatures near impossible to kill are 'D’s )
Believe me… This game is probably 20 years old and I still play it nowadays…
Have you got any oldies that you fell in love with (and anything 3D is NOT an oldie - well maybe except descent, doom and wolfenstein the first… which were not that great 3D =))
