VOIP Woes

My parents decided to get VOIP, them being too spontaneous and did no research, it kills me. Today, the no-name company (iTalkBB) sends us a Linksys VOIP modem. This thing has one port for ethernet and one port for telephone. Here’s my problem.

  1. Where do I put it. Right now, I have a wireless router setup. Can VOIP handle going through a router first?

  2. The VOIP modem has one telephone jack output. Does that mean I have to go in the basement and find that one telephone line that comes into the house and plug that in? We have 4 phones in the house, it’d be useless if only one phone was using VOIP.

  3. How much bandwidth does VOIP take?
