WHAT is illuSion ? explain

Hey !!!
just for a change???

WHAT is ILLUSION ???

any one OUT tHERE
wanna share a experience.

THANKX

Well…

A misrepresentation of a “real” sensory stimulus–that is, an interpretation that contradicts objective “reality” as defined by general agreement. For example, a child who perceives tree branches at night as if they are hobglobins may be said to be having an illusion.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I concur

:stuck_out_tongue:

i get it do u have any story…

Erm, maybe I have one. One day, after breakfast, I was putting all the stuff away, like bread, corn flakes, milk, jam, etc.
After that, I took a wet scrub to clean the plastic cloth and saw a bit of apricot jam on the table. Instead of cleaning it, I put it in my mouth. That’s when I found out it was no jam at all, but the ikky yellow jelly stuff from my cat’s food. :x

Does this count? :stuck_out_tongue:

The story really happened… I still wonder how my cat can eat that stuff… yuk! I have no idea how it ended up on the table though.

LOL

thats a good one lol :beam:

Maybe you were in a deep trance when you slapped the so-called ‘jam’ on your bread and ate it. Or the fumes coming from the cat food is not so good for the human psyche.

It is the belief in something that has no evidence of its existence.

I once thought there was someone in my bed with me. but there wasnt :*(

Like God:q:

That’s heavy.

Like when you are driving on a hot day and think you see water far ahead on the road.

morse i think that is an oaisis

a mirage? a manipulation of light to deceive human sight.

an oasis is a reservoir of water found in barren lands, deserts.
(champagne supernover in the sky…)

I believe illusion is something that stimulates our minds to be convinced that another thing exists, even though it doesn’t.

To just check that he has arrived. I when to the garage behind my house to see if his car is parked or not.
There was no car.
but when i went home my dad was there and when asked where is his car he said in the garage.
And yes it was there, it just 45 sec befor it was not there, even he was surprised by this but late he refuse to belive.

It was like, back of my mind i was reading that my dad will be late cos of so heavy rain and that led me to not see the car.

hahaha FUNNY right but fact.
after surfing the net … i got that this is the trick behind hypnotisim and magic tricks.

Well, for people who believe in hem i would think so.

Actually, *It is the belief in something that has no evidence of its existence *is not a good description of an illusion.

An illusion, as defined by Freud, is a belief with no evidence to validate or disprove it, which is believed solely because it is what the person would like to be the truth. Illusions in this sense perfectly describe religion; Freud points out that religious people are believing exactly what they would like to be true without any evidence to support their beliefs.

i actually have a whole whack of them, but this one is pretty wierd. there was this very old homeless lady where i lived. she wore no socks or shoes and had a beigish outfit was really short and kinda chubby. she always walked downtown.

one day my friend and i were driving down the street where she is quite often seen. Needless to say we saw her again as usual. i said “wow that lady is always walking around here!”. my friend agreed. as we drove closer to “the lady” it wasn’t the lady at all but it was 3 beige garbage bags piled on top of eachother on the sidwalk.

we both looked at eachother and laughed in surprise. “that isn’t the homeless lady…!!! it is a stack of garbage” how ironic…???

disclaimer: this is true, no i dont have something against homeless people or am suggesting they are garbage.
i have fed homeles people on the streets before just incase someone tries to take a stab at me

I always thought that illusions are not real. That would meand that the defenition that freud gave is incorrect.

Let’s see what the dictionairy says (translated from dutch):

illusion
1 hallucination => delusion
2 pipe dream => castles in the air. utopia, soap bubble
3 artificial visualisation

It would mean that in that sense, God does not exists. Aswell as reincarnation and other forms of religion.

well may be illusion is god
that wat makes us going in this world.
