What the hell is the deal with telltarget

i mean, it took me 30 minutes to realize that i was doing telltarget() instead of tellTarget(). the syntax checker wasnt catching it the difference. is telltarget() an actually working function separate from tellTarget() or is the syntax checker screwed up?

tellTarget() has been deprecitaed in Flash MX. Now it simply uses dot notation eg: _root.myclip to refer to objects.

tellTarget is the actual command. Using telltarget is like using an undefined variable. Flash doesnt warn the use of undefined varaibles, so if you mistype tellTarget in that way, you wont be warned of the difference

yeah tellTarget() has been Deprecated in MX (and kit, not depreciated =)) but you might still find it useful in some occasions… =)

depreciated is the correct spelling of the word. Deprecate is the verb: to Deprecrate something is to belittle it, or depreciate it.

I looked up deprecate at www.webster.com and it says depricated :stuck_out_tongue:

I think we can just say they are the same word, but I think since Macromedia uses “Deprecated” we should stick with that to avoid confusion :stuck_out_tongue:

I dont see why we just dont use ‘old’

look how much shorter that is! and so much easier to type and understand. Ok yeah, its old. Grampy there will work, but like all old things, will die off sooner or later… then again you can always argue they dont make them like they used to

it fits so perfect its SICK!

…its old

YES!!! PERFECT!!!

I’d appreciate it…(stupid pun…):trout:

:stuck_out_tongue: Having fun reading :stuck_out_tongue:

woooh! yeah i just realized that they are same indeed! whaaatta! (macroconfusion on macromedia)

sen, i like that --“OLD”! =)

old dog… heheheee

mmm… just a thought… maybe macromedia uses that coz it sounds somewhat “good” lol :stuck_out_tongue:
