I know, I know. It’s an extremely subjective subject and question. There are a million and one articles about Web Design pricing, fees, etc. I’ve read a ton of them!
With that said, I’m asking for a GENERAL idea of what YOU would charge for a job like this… I’m not posting the link because I’m just asking for your OPINION based on the following info:
Small Business Cat Breeders website. No cart. Basic in-line CSS and (I’m ashamed to say) tables (it was hard enough to talk client out of FRAMES)!
- Basic Flash intro (header sized on first page)
- 5 formatted pages (custom background, borders, composition all from scratch)
- Embedded a 3rd party photo gallery so client can login and add/delete pics herself of what kittens she has for sale or have sold.
- Custom header and logo (for the rest of the pages)
- 6 roll-over effect buttons (Photoshopped .gifs)
- 2 basic medium sized Photoshop comped pictures
- 1 small custom page break graphic
- Links researched and all links and text provided by me (and I don’t know anything about breeding cats! haha)
- (and now the biggie) 17 total custom Photoshopped themed pics (all approximately 700x550px) to clients exact specifications for each of her breeding cats. Each have between 5 and 25 layers of composition to include the cat (fine fur masking), royalty free stock photos (most of which had to be found by me), photos she took herself and sent, layer effects (haze, fog, aging, canvas, extra text, shine, etc), a few custom brushes made for some particular comps, and custom cat name graphic. Some of them went through up to 5 revisions before she was happy (“could you make her eyes a tiny bit lighter?” “No that’s too light now…”, etc)
Quality of the site is again subjective. Some hardcore modern designers might think it’s crap, some might not; I will say this though: Client adores it and it looks 100 times nicer, is more professional and navigationally friendly than 99% of her competition (all other cat and dog breeder sites I’ve seen, and I did alot of research)
Again, I know the obvious answers/follow up questions “how many hours?” “what do YOU think it’s worth”, etc. I just want your gut-reaction opinion to what YOU would charge for this (roundabout figures of course)
