If you had to design a site for your local Lions Club organization, what or how would you design it? Keeping in mind that the majority of the users/visitors are going to be somewhat older, and/or visually impaired.
what would you do as far as functionality… AND design- how the site would look?
I’m just curious, because I want to redesign this site that I made for the Port Huron Lions Club, because I’m not exactly proud of it… and I want to be able to put it in my “portfolio” without shame.
Gimme your input! Any suggestions at all are welcomed. :cap:
I know that some people would take this as a given, but I think that this has to be your game plan. It would have to be built around ease of use and simplicity.
that is a fantastic idea! like a sort of… 50’s-ish style going on. I think I know what you mean. The only problem is having confidence in myself that I can create something like that.

I’m in the process of learning about ads from the 50’s and how they advertised. I’ve got to research this. I’m thinking about a 50’s/grunge olde style. I would love to make something like that. good colors, parchament paper layout with some cool graphics… a man on the bottom right corner that has a “cartoon bubble” that has a flash news ticker in it… which could display all of the recent news and stuff.

know any tutes about making 50’s style graphics or whatever? anything at all will help. any sites you know of or you think could help.
i’d mostly use html/css because they might have their browsers set to change font size. adding to what prstudios said about the old theme, some black and white photos might fit in well. port huron has some great spots for b/w photos… the drawbridge in particular comes to mind.

anyhoo… yeah port huron is AWESOME for pictures. the blue water bridge is like the best place- i swear. i have so many awesome pics from there.
there are many drawbridges in PH. I might look funny taking pictures of them, though. unless i did it early when nobody was around.
I would mostly use html. if I use any flash, i’ll make sure to use big text… like for a news ticker or whatever. yeah.
