White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan

I’ve given this album a few listens. At first I thought to myself, “Hey, where are all the guitar-driven songs at?” After all, their first single, ‘Blue Orchid’, is traditional guitar and drums combo that they’re famous for. So I thought it was a representation of the whole album but it’s nowhere near that. This is a very laid back album but that doesn’t mean it’s bad by any means, just different.

One song that I really don’t get is ‘The Nurse’ with it’s sudden guitar bursts. ‘Little Ghost’ sounds like something you might’ve sang in grade school. And Meg’s singing on ‘Passive Manipulation’ is far from great, but the song is very short so it’s no big deal.

This album is not ‘Elephant’ but if you like the White Stripes you’ll come to like this album. Don’t dismiss it after only one listen!
