Wife got a ticket - but with errors. What should I do?

So, my wife was on her way to get her car’s registration updated and she was pulled over and ticketed for out of date registration. :expressionless:

Here’s the thing - the officer specifically noted to her that it was not a traffic violation, but then accidentally ticked the ‘traffic’ box on the ticket he gave her. Then, he only managed to enter four of the five numbers in the zip code. (ex. 92129 - he just entered 2122, very odd.)

I don’t want to just accept the ticket, since it has incorrect information that could even be potentially damaging - stating that it was a moving violation when it was not. The dude just made a bunch of mistakes.

What should I do? :sigh:

You should have the ability for a trial. Just challenge the ticket.

I got a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt once, and the ticket had my birthdate as the day that I received the ticket. I challenged the ticket, and it turns out the cop didn’t even hand in his copy of the ticket. The funny thing is, I was in the back of the car with 2 other people who also didn’t wear seatbelts and got tickets, but their copy of the tickets were handed in. (I was the only underage person in the car at the time.)

I think in cases like these, cops intentionally make these mistakes to scare you and let you off, really…

Your wife causing trouble already? Jeez, :stuck_out_tongue:

Depends on the state.

The judge might or might not allow the ticket because of the error - it’s really up to the judge.

Typically a typo or wrong letter here or there wouldn’t mean you’re off the hook, but in this case I’m not too sure.

Don’t let the bastards get away with it. Git 'em.

Fill a beer bottle with gasoline, twist up the ticket and use it as a fuse for a molotov cocktail.

Then throw that burning bottle of death at a prostitute.
