Will flash 5 code work on flash mx?

Hi i don’t have flash mx 2004, but I think I have flash 6. ( on the disk it says macromedia MX). Anyway i have found a book with code for creating random questions from a txt file to use with a multiple choice quiz. If i were to buy this book would the flash 5 code work on my computer? hope you can help quickly? thanks lesley
