Win 2k Question

I just switched to 2000 yesterday. I’ve used it in the past, but this time around, I’m experiencing some problems. Every once in a while, I get an error that deals with svchost.exe. It shuts it down and makes an error log somewhere. Then basically, main functions of my computer freezes until I restart. Has anyone ever heard of this problem? It’s really driving me nuts because I can’t install Flash or any Macromedia products.
