Windows xp pro, reentering the cd key :(

Im having poblems with installing microsoft serverpack 1.
It wont lett me install it after downloading the file.
Its the windows cd key.

I must change that, its not the real windows cd that I bought, but now I have the real one. I need to reenter it. is there a way to do this.

There is a way, but you’d have to go sniffing in the registry for that.

Be warned, it is very dangerous to mess with your registry. If you do everything correct, nothing should go wrong, but do NOT start changing everything you come across. Be EXTREMELY careful !

Hm, I was wrong. There is a way to view it, but not to edit it. You’ll have to contact microsoft.

rather than go through the hassle and associated risks of messing with your registry… why don’t you just do a format and clean install using your new copy of XP?

For the first part. Its very boring. beying a robot is cool, yes :sure:

for the second part. it takes long time to do it.

I Just found somthing in my “system” files.
its a .pdf file that tells u how.

Maybe because I have done things like this before. Its not my first time, but after I have done it, I found some errors in some system files. There is files who are damaged in win xp pro. and O tried to fix the files, but the files are locked, and I need the server pack to fix these files. The files are also for the xp key.

Seriously, the next time I reformat, I’m going to partition my hard drive in two, install windows on one and Red Hat on the other.

I blindly hope that MM will release Flash 7 for Linux :-\

but I cant find a cd that is bootable and redhat linux on it.

installing it like windows, very easy. I dont like to download that big file. :frowning:
