WMV High Defenition Video format from Microsoft

Microsoft indroduces WMV HD format [Windows Media High Definition Video]

This Video format comes with an amzaing resolutions and encoded at 24 frames per second - fps
There are two different resolutions, either 1280 x 720 (720p) or 1920 x 1080 (1080p). High definition video looks sharper and clearer than regular video, especially on big-screen displays.

now Adobe Premiere Pro, Cleaner etc. supports encoding in this format.

I personally hate WMV files.

I hear that MS wants to license this to Hollywood studios. The quality (both audio and video) is really good, according to a few reviews, compared to similar technologies that produce similar file sizes. Plus, content developers can enable DRM, so that makes it more appealing for the studios.

Psh. Of course they want to license it to Hollywood studios, that’s a nice little additional mountain of cash for them.
