Xml gallery question

hey guys im wonderin if you can be of assistance.ive been doin alot of research on this topic and im coming up short. i am trying to create an xml gallery which holds lets say 6 thumbs at a time.there would be forward and back buttons to cycle through thumbs beyond the six visible at a time. on each thumb i would like an xml description. on rollover there would be an expandable mask -and on click it would call a full image below it with a full description and possibly html linking. does anyone know of a tutorial this complete? its probably a little confusing without a visual if ya need i can create it less the xml functionality but i would appreciate a little direction
