800 x 600 vs 1024 x 768? Discuss!
We are currently in the process of revamping a sports portal we currently develop.
We are looking to increase content and advertising space, and have seen that many of our competitors have adapted to a larger layout based on resolutions of 1024 x 768.
I have always developed for browsers using smaller resolutions, but am warming to the fact that many have now adapted to the larger resolution monitors now.
I am looking to develop the site, with our own content being displayed in the 800 x 600 area, with adverts from third parties being paced outside this area, but still within the 1024 x 768 area.
Have any of you adapted to the larger size? reasons for and against?
Does anyone have any evidence of users using the larger resolutions?
I have found this, but unsure of how reliable it is.
