is there any rival for flash mx? like amd and intel?
hahah there’s Swish and Live Motion, but I don’t know if they’re even considered rivals. 
There are rivals for parts of Flash MX… like Illustrator for the drawing part, but no other program that I know can do everything Flash can - that’s one of the reasons I like it so much.
well some professional tv programmes use adobe photoshop and after effects to make cartoons. like aqua teen hunger force.
java is the rival for the most downloaded plugin, i think
Yeah I don’t think Flash has a rival, it’s closest rival may be Director (thats the one for Shockwave files right?), but thats made by Macromedia as well so it isn’t really a rival persay 
well they have a rival:
Plasma 3D combined with Havok dynamics.Plasma is more like 3D MAX only it saves the files in a web format and you can get the coding part as well with the Havok Dynamics plugin.I’ve tried it and it’s much much better then Flash MX but the problem is you need the shockwave plugin instead of the flash plugin to see the pages made with Plasma.Most of the new web-based games are made with Plasma.It has maybe the most important feature that Flash doesn’t have: the Z axis (not to mention that you can add textures to the objects you create, like glass, chrome , metal)

Plasma cant really be considered a rival since in a completely different class than Flash itself. Swish is the closest thing now though its touted as an ‘easy & cheap’ alternative and really isnt out to compete with Flash itself so much. There was livemotion by adove, but I hear theyve since ditched development on that and I believe the last version only exported to Flash 5.
I think adobe is going to focus on their SVG from here on out.
i think it might have been swish, but what was that programme that would have this little sun logo in the bottom corner of every animation?
