Anyone have the titles of any good books that will help you to learn Actionscript?
If you already pretty much know the basics of Flash, the get
Flash to The Core: An Interactive Sketchbook by, Joshua Davis.
I am telling you, I learned more from that book from the first couple chapters than i ever have anywhere else, I so serious about that. (thats how good this book is)

So SO SO understandable too. and he has an interesting approch to web design that I really like.
Colin Moock’s Book
the best
Thanks for your input guys. They both look like great books, but Colin’s book, should I hold off until I know more about action script or is it alright for a beginner in actionscript.
I want a book that teaches you the how and why of actionscript.
FLASH TO THE CORE
he explains the code line by line. and i mean LINE BY LINE:nerd:
if you are going to waste your money then get Moocks book. I have read both and I feel Moocks is better for the level you are at.
And besides, I already told you not to buy a book.
in my newbie days, i found friends of ed’s ‘Foundation Actionscript’ to be a good introduction–moock’s book is almost painfully inclusive, and might be a bit much in the beginning…
haven’t read josh davis’ book yet, but looking fwd to it–imo, start with something easy to digest, then move up from there…

i want to say…

but in the sirst step in AS… Colin Moock’s Book:A+: :A+: :A+:
Get senocular’s book “The Book to Buy to Learn Flash: Buy Me Now, Third Edition”
Just give me 6 months to write it, find a publisher and have it printed. Make that 8.

That would be Moock’s book then. I think that Flash To The Core is much more a practical book, with also a nice design touch. You can check the source files on the official site of the book if you want.

Moocks book is ‘the best’ though it can be hard for beginners. I recomended it to a friend and she got through the first 2-3 chapters ok, but then got lost. Its THE book to have, so if you can afford it, I suggest getting it anyway - possibly trying your hand at it and if it is too much, trying to find something thats a step down. From what Ive seen of your posts here, I think you can handle it.
