I am a gardener by trade who has taken to writing code in my spare time lately. Started with Perl, into ActionScript and Python these days.
Anyways, being into Python, I find it odd this obsession with HTML and especially JavaScript in the P communities. It seems too me that JavaScript is mostly a very weak version of ECMA Script compared to ActionScript (of course JS has its uses). Honestly, I think HTML oughta be deprecated except for text/simple image display and replaced with something more like Flash.
Anyways, it seems odd too me the huge volume of JavaScript to ActionScript served up by P scripts (Perl/PHP/Python). And what the heck does AJAX do that can’t be better done in Flash and a P language. Yet, if you bring this up on P language lists, it is like you are bringing up AIDS or something. I have been tinkering with Python/JSON/ActionScript, and don’t see what all this AJAX stuff buys you.
Anyways, curious what others think.
