Actionscript

I dont want to scuff up any of the other forums so Ill ask here.

How did any of you actionscript pros get good at actionscript and everything? I know Flash real good but I have decided I need to learn actionscript to make my sites that much better. I know a little but I have mostly just been copy and pasting any actionscript more than gotoandplay. So does anyone have any tips on where to learn it good?

A good book really helps. Check out the Shop section in kirupa.com. It’s got some pretty neat reviews.

Yes, definitely reading. It doesn’t have to be a book though, anything that has to do with AS will help. I learnt most of it by answering peoples questions on the forums and reading others’ solutions.

Starting from gotoAndStop is easier with a book. It’s more comprehensive and definitely the fastest way to get up to where you need it. But yeah reading other people’s solutions to answers helps as well, but then you’d have to know what they are talking about as well.

hey, also try reading the little explanations they give in tutorials. Mostly they put stuff you can copy and paste, but take the time to read through it and analyse what does what. Then when you have another thing later you can recall what you’ve done and slowly build up your knowledge
