And I thought Californians were nuts

This just in from ABC news…

Inheritance sets cat up for 9 lives
An elderly widow has left a black stray cat her London house and a 100,000 pound trust fund.

The Times newspaper reports Margaret Layne, 89, left the 350,000 pound house and the trust fund to ‘Tinker’ after befriending the stray.

The childless widow made it clear in her will that Tinker, who has lifelong residency at the house, should not stray again.

“If Tinker abandons the property permanently the trustees shall at their discretion be entitled to bring the trust to an end,” the will said.

Since Mrs Layne’s death, Tinker, aged about eight, has acquired two housemates at the three-bedroom property in Harrow, north London.

They are two other cats, Lucy and Stardust.

When Tinker dies the estate will pass to the trustees, Mrs Layne’s former neighbours.

A Stray Cat no less…

You Brits…

Rev

oh my god, that is just bad. how about leaving your friggin money to someone who needs it. ugh, i hate people that do that.

LMAO. ok, im a cat lover, but that is going TOO FAR

pinx:

my point exactly…

almost a million US Dollars…

IMO, this should not be legal. If you want to make sure your pets are cared for, that is different, but to leave a stray cat a house for itself is just an insult to anyone who doesn’t have a roof over their head…

Rev

wow i didn’t realize that it’s almost a million dollars. that’s just preposterous. an animal cannot make decisions as to what to do with the money. that’s just crazy.

Do you guys know who David Cross is? He is a comedian - if you get a change fire up Kazza and download his stand up routine on there… in it he talks about this exact topic.

It’s ridiculous that someone can leave that much money to an animal when there are families and others who cannot afford a can of soup. I know it’s hard to make sure that your money goes to the right places but there are ways. Like have some of your family acutally find people who are really in need and give them the money directly.

It’s terrible that this stuff happens.

yeah man this is a little over the top…
