Animals entombed in Rocks, sometimes found alive

I think that he resented my post.:frowning:

C´mon phil, it was just a j/k!:stuck_out_tongue:

no hard feelings?

=)

Phil: I mean no offense to you. I respect you, your beliefs, your intelligence. But you are very similar to my friend. My friend believes everything he reads. He becomes influenced by the last thing that he reads and begins to follow that. He now thinks that he is a Marxist, however his family has more money than I would want to count, and all he does is spend his money on meaningless crap.

I believe that thing about the Frogs, because its been documented that they can shut their bodies down into a ‘sleep-like’ state for long periods of time, but i think that Guig0’s (i think) explanation of how they get in their is accurate. I do not believe the thing about the pterodactyl…

i just posted that crap to kind of prove a point, that people will believe what they want to believe. i could put up a web site and completely fabricate a story about anything. i could supply names and dates and company names, research foundations, funded studies, government reports, figures, measurements, etc. - all out of thin air. a lot of people would look at it and completely buy it. all my facts and figures would be “proof”. it’s doubtful that anyone would try to contact my “sources” or look up the “documents” i quoted. if it aligned with their viewpoint, and looked valid, they’d buy it.

it’s pretty much the same with mass media. most people believe it because it’s on tv, or in the newspaper, or because a “government expert” was quoted.

generally speaking, though, the media has to be able to back up their stories with facts, or face libel suits or be totally discredited.
