I would like to animate the frog in my new logo, so that it goes from the logo to the white space. You can see the logo here: www.kajinku.com (the grey one).
How should I start to make it move naturally? Does this envolves ActionScript? I never done animation in Flash before…
Well, what I want to create is the movement of the frog, like a real one. I want it to step out of the logo and change colour when it gets to the white space (the rest of the screen). The colour changing thing isn’t really my problem, but I have no idea how to create the movement of the stepping frog… I want it to move its legs like a real frog, I want it to move its body like a real one… how do I start at this?
You have 2 options, one will look more natural than the other.
The most natural way to do it is to have a video file of an actual frog climping up something and then importing it into flash and tint the entire movie so that you’ll only see the shape of the frog climbing.
If you’re a good artist then you can use the pen tool and do a frame by frame animation. You basically would have to manually animate the frog climbing.
To see an example of method #1, go to this site, www.frosch-studio.com and click on the "work section. You’ll see an animated frog in the ice cubes.
A tree frog actually crawls up things, fully extending its legs as needed. So if you were going to have it move up the screen from its position in the logo, it would probably leap from the logo area to somewhere on the screen (when they leap, there bodies are almost fully extended - and they are very thin) then crawl the rest of the way up.

You could use both techniques to get exactly what you are looking for…
Use the video as a reference for the movement and instead of just tinting the video, do as in #2 and trace each frame of the video as silohettes like your logo. That will most likely look best for “real-life” movement.
Thanks for all the replies. And hey! That frosch-studio stole my idea! Just when I thought I had something original… anyway, that site is awesome, I love the animations and all. Very clever. There’s no way I’ll obtain such cool effects with my site. That’s why I hate them now.
I think I will have to go somewhere where I can film a frog… but that’s the hard part. Besides the zoo, I don’t really know where I could take a closeup shot. I’ll see what I can do.
Animating the whole thing by hand would be more convenient but not easier… I’m not a very good artist, but this could allow me to keep the original logo. Besides, tracing the frog from film will give it another shape than the frog I have now… maybe better, maybe worse…
Thanks again for the replies, let’s try the experiments.
EDIT: whoops, read too fast:

Wow, that Frosch Studio site is amazing! How did they do the reflection/water effect under the the buttons and the ice cubes?! And that frog…wow, he looks like a real frog walking around behind those ice cubes. simply amazing.

IS there a tutorial somewhere to make this then?
About separating a shape from a movie and making it look so that only the shape is moving and not the background.
Like that frog 4 example?
