Anyone good with "global illumination"using maya?

aawww man I missed out on this thread

gp the sun gives off hard shadows - although I’m not familiar with 3ds I know that in c4d the ‘sun’ light cannot be changed too much (ie type of shadow, distance etc…) so that’s why I use my light grid—

Hey all, there is a method on which you can create that look in maya using mental Ray and global illumination. Its in the video that i send to Coolidge. Im not sure if it was successful in helping him, but the tutorial was basically about using global illumination in maya using mental ray.

Here is the introduction video if you want a sneak preview of it,

Soulty.
I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to help me with my problem.
The video was extremely helpful and informative. :thumb:

I can’t believe how long it takes to render though!

As soon as I click on “render”, I have to go make a sandwich or check the mail…something to pass the time!

Nonetheless, thank you.

No worries dude, glad it helped you,

let me check out the render, when its finished :stuck_out_tongue:

It does take a while. Thats when you go outside and practise your basketball dribbling skills. hehe…
