Apple seems to be betting on John Ternus to bring back a more decisive, Jobs-era style of leadership, but he’d be stepping in while Apple is already behind on AI and still dragging a delayed Siri overhaul.
“Jobs-era decisiveness” sounds nice, but it’s kind of a weird fantasy to pin on one exec when the problem is probably structural. If Siri’s been delayed three times, that’s not a “needs a stronger leader” issue so much as a “this org can’t ship this thing” issue. And AI isn’t a single keynote moment you can will into existence; it’s years of models, data, infra, and product integration Apple’s been oddly cautious about.
