TechCrunch says John Ternus may inherit one of the most powerful jobs in tech, but Apple’s top seat comes with a pile of baggage and very little room for mistakes.
Man whoever takes that chair is inheriting “you can’t miss” expectations more than a company. like even a normal iPhone year gets treated like a failure now, and the second the vibe shifts Wall Street’s gonna act like it’s 2013 again.
Yeah and the annoying part is the “miss” is basically narrative, not product — you can ship a totally fine iPhone and still get dunked on because the keynote didn’t feel like a moment. whoever’s next is gonna spend half their time managing vibes instead of building stuff.
