Just thought I’d get a little random and gather a few social statistics… The introduction has been shrunk down for skim reading convenience.
[SIZE=1]I find coding simple. The only reason it’s difficult is because other people make it seem difficult, telling people how only geniouses and true nerds can do programming, and it takes years and years to learn. Same thing with electronics and circuits or robotics.
I guess there is some logic to spreading these rumors. If more people think programming is difficult, there will be less and less coders. The fewer amount of coders, the more desperate clients will be for developers, the more jobs will pay.
It’s a lovely little chain that disgusts me, and I still feel guilty working at $60 per hour start wage (shabam… I don’t even have a high school diploma. Long story…)[/SIZE]
I have met developers which set themselves up as Gods. “Oh, what I do you would never understand. I could explain it, but you wouldn’t get it anyway. I am a gift to mankind. Can I write out the invoice beforehand?” (Slight over-exaggeration, but you get the drift, and can probably name people like this) You often find these people at conferences flaunting their knowledge. :blah:
And not including all those in the middle (which in my experience, there is a surprisingly small amount of), there is an opposite group, most often found on Forums helping people (kudos to you all) who have a different train of thinking "anyone can learn coding if they are willing. It’s quite simple when you take the time and break it down."
Of course, you find the Gods on the forums as well, but mostly shooting down other posts and explaining how terrible the ideas are.
