Well Whippersnapper, it goes like this. There’s a controvery over this convicted cop killer in Philadelphia. This all happened years ago. When he was arrested, he entered the plea of ‘guilty,’ then when he was sentenced to death he entered the appeals court saying that his confession was flase, and that he plead guilty because he didn’t want his brother to get in trouble, who he says killed the cop. For over a decade now this man has been in and out of appeals court, with many people backing his fight for freedom.
One of those backers is Snapple, who contributes a portion of their profits to pay for the lawyers fees for this killer. Another backer is Rage Against the Machine, who gave (until they broke up) a portion of their profits from ticket and album sales to help “Free Mumia”
The cop killer’s name - Mumia Abu-Jamal.
The fallen hero - Dainel Faulkner
I’d tell you to look that up online, but all you’ll see are “Free Mumia” sites with phony information, and totally subjective materials touting HIM as the hero.
fine by me, but id rather that they charge less for water…
unfortunately that would lead to more people drinking a healthy substance that is widely available, as opposed to sucking down an unhealthy beverage, and keeping their brand loyalty…
I think what Majeye is saying something equivalent to paying the same amount for a piece of wood as you would for a whole house… although that would be an exaggerated analogy.

**So you think that Snapple and RATM support this guy because he killed a cop? Who’s really got the phony information…
Perhaps they support Mumia because he was wrongfully accused and imprisoned… **
I agree with majeye.
It’s hard to fully understand where our money goes once it leaves our hands.
What I’m really upset about, forget this water/soda thing … why is it so much money for Orange Juice!! They want kids to eat healthy and all, but when I go for a drink from the vending machines, a Mountain Dew costs me 75 cents, and OJ is a rediculous $1.15!!
You can believe whoever you want, you can fight for whatever you want, you can side with whoever you want … I’m from Philadelphia, born and raised … if anybody, I’d have more knowledge on the subject that Snapple or Rage.
I might have to agree with you if not for the sole fact that he said he was covering up for his brother who killed him, saying his religion forced him to confess and not rat out his brother who he said killed Faulkner.

Now that is whack! **
I couldn’t agree more. They charge over 2 dollars for 20oz of orange or apple juice and its 1.10 for soda, that is not good for you at all.
I buy a case of .5 liter water bottles every week. I don’t pay for purified tap water- if the bottle says “Spring water” on the label , it is legally required to come from a natural source. Look it up. If it says “drinking water” “mineral water” or whatever else, it can and usually is purified tap water from a municipal source, which tastes like crap.
I spent the first 12 years of my life living in the country, drinking sweet, clean well water. If you’ve never drank good well water, it almost tastes like there’s sugar added to it. From when I was 12-16, I lived in Oregon, which had very clean, tasty tap water.
I pay for bottled water for the same reason I keep my AC at 72 degrees year round in Phoenix, AZ- I can’t get to sleep if it’s hot because it was always cold at night as a kid. I can’t drink purified tap water because it tastes flat and gross to me, I was raised on really tasty water.
I think they might be trying to capitalize on people wanting to be healthier and jack up the price on the good stuff like OJ and AJ.
I think that’s the reason bottled water is so much money too. I mean, how many times do you see people walking around with a bottle of water in their hands? Why is it 50 cents for a candy bar, and over $1 at least for a granola bar, or ‘health snack’?
Phoenix, AZ born and raised. Hell yes I need cold air and good water! :thumb:

Kinda unrelated, but I saw “Smart Water” at trader joes the other day. Actually claims to make you smarter by “replenshing key minerals and electrolytes”. C’mon now…

I live with well water were i am at and it is the grossest thing ever it has like black specks in it and is full of most everything you can think of so we have to have water delivered to are house to drink witch is a big hassle
BTW, water is not, was never, and never will be FREE. You either pay your local water and sewer bill or you pay to have a well drilled, pumps installed and a cesspool or septic system to maintain.

Magick, just being FROM somewhere is not an infallible argument against ignorance…I just moved to NJ from Philly…Check your facts…
He didn’t plead guilty…I’m not saying he’s innocent either, BUT how much do you know of what the cops said happened that night…???
There’s doubt there, and that my friend should be enough to keep ANYONE off death row.
One more rant…??? Why is tobacco taxed so much for being such a strain on health care and yet junk food and drinks are cheaper than healthy foods causing things like diabetes, obesity and heart disease. (How about scales in the supermarkets, if you are x amount of pounds overweight you get charged y amount of tax).
Not to mention the fact that the tax they collect from tobacco SHOULD be enough to provide health care to EVERYONE who is not insured
