I was wondering, I doubt that anyone knows… but does anyone happen to know how much bandwidth a game normally consumes?
Let’s say Warcraft 3, it is a popular game…
You connect to a game, and start playing, in 5 minutes how many bytes do you think you will download, and upload during that time? Is there any way to measure something like that?
The reason I ask is because I have not yet started working on bandwidth efficiency on the land viewing part of my game… and every time somone moves they load around 1kb of data… which after 100 movements, becomes 100KB… which is already 1/10th of a megabyte… and that worried me.
I plan on making it efficient, but was planning on only doing that after I started beta…
And yes I can now actually see the light at the end of the tunnel!! Beta is starting to take a very fuzzy but visible form! wohoo (still maybe a few months off though for public beta)
