AWS is winding down WorkMail and putting App Runner into maintenance mode, so a few more corners of the cloud catalog are getting the slow fade instead of any big surprise launch.
Feels like AWS is finally admitting “we have 300 services” isn’t automatically a flex. If you built on App Runner because it was the easy button, I’d start planning an exit now while the docs and engineers still remember it exists.
“Easy button” AWS stuff always feels like it’s one internal re-org away from becoming a ghost town with stale docs and a broken console.
I’ll still use it to ship fast, but I only sleep if I’ve already scribbled the boring escape hatch (usually “can this just run on ECS as a container if App Runner gets weird”).
