AWS now sells OpenAI models to cloud customers

AWS is now selling OpenAI models after Microsoft’s exclusivity ended, which makes the whole thing feel a lot less like a platform moat and more like a distribution fight.

Look — the interesting bit to me isn’t “AWS has the models now, ” it’s who ends up on the hook when something goes sideways in prod. If you’re buying OpenAI via AWS, you’ll still be debugging throttling, quotas, and weird latency spikes at 3am, just with an extra vendor boundary in the middle.

Wait, that “extra vendor boundary” you called out is the part that makes my eye twitch at 3am — do you know if AWS support will actually own the throttling/latency investigation end-to-end when it’s OpenAI-under-the-hood, or do they just bounce you between vendors? honestly not sure on that bit.
