Hey - this is the new site i’m working on right now… it’s not really done as of yet, i’m working out alot of bugs and sitting a bunch of ideas, trying to decide what i like and don’t like. The hardest part is getting one thing to happen and then another and another, basically sequencing everything. I just figured out how to preload the xml images, and get them to fade in. I don’t know what you guys will see, but the only page that really works for now is the PRINT page. Oh and this site needs flash 8 - Thanks - let me know what you think.
hey man, nice work so far. I really, really like some of your print work, the 40’s era comic book style is awesome and your typography and graphic style are really really strong!
So, because of that, I assume this is one of your first flash sites, because the site itself is a bit clunky and lacks the graphic sophistication your work has. It’s completely understandble if it’s a new medium, and I would also assume that in time you would develop a successor to this site that would equal or rival that sophistication.
Given that, I will say, good job for what you’ve got and just make a few practical observations:
The intro paragraph seems really ostentatious and overblown IMHO. This is purely my own opinion. But the “This is… this is…” thing really made me roll my eyes!
The preloader is nicely done but a bit slow, that is, the animation of its elements seems to take at least as long if not twice as long as the actual loading!
When I loaded “Print,” at first I thought the text navigation at the bottom was directly related to the images above it, so I was confused because I couldn’t find the work! As a user-interface problem, you should probably find a new way to differentiate the top-level navigation (home, web, print etc) from the sub-level navigation (the thumbnails of the work).
Out of curiosity, did you do any of the illustration in those show posters? Because I’d love to see that kind of graphic ability in the site itself.
Anyway, I hope we’re on some kind of similar level. Keep going!
is it just me, or does my site seem to lag, like run alot slower than the other flash sites i’m seeing? I’m not sure as to why either, when i test it off my computer it runs through alot faster, and i’m positive that the whole thing running slower is taking away from it’s overall appeal. It’s just that, running off my server is slowing it down, atleast when i check it out… weird - Chris
Runs fine for me. I quite like the design, but it is a bit bland at the moment. Could do with some graphic elements (eg, an image behind the main box), however I assume this will come later.
I was amazed looking at the print work and looking at the site, I wouldn’t believe the same guy designed them. Especially your message at the start I was getting ready to be blown away and then it’s just a white back with some black boxes
you need to really get creative with this design. It’s just so bland and boring. If you hadn’t said about the print page I never would have checked it out and never would have believed you were capable of that kinda work. I would have just closed it and be commenting on how bad a designer you are when obviously you aren’t
You need to get some of that groin grabbingly amazing work over to your design. Colour, is a first. How about using pieces of your print as the background or something.
