I agree, this short is on par with the recent animal related feature film animations. Especially considering the following:
1.) The small team involved
2.) The short time frame it was created within
3.) The fact major features were being developed and added to the software as production was being done.
Given these facts I think its outstanding. Likewise the Apricot Game Project is also very impressive and will also add numerous additional features to Blender.
Its an awesome program. My favorite part is the jump rope scene
