it’s late in the day and my brain is beginning to stop work…ehmm…working
anyway we’ve been asked to come up with a wishlist for a server. Now technical specs won’t be included (thats out our hands) at the moment all we know is it’ll be to host 2 static html sites for now but eventually we will want to use databases with some new sites.
I’ve used ASP, IIS and SQL before so I’m tempted to go down the Window road, mainly cause I know it. The other developer in the department hasn’t used any of these though so there will need to be some training.
The other alternative is Linux. I’ve never used Apache and PHP (well a bit) I know mySQL and SQL are quite similar but this will at least give me the chance to learn Apache and PHP. The other developer has no experience again so there will be training here.
Compatability isn’t a question either cause the company already has several Windows & Linux servers.
We’re kinda caught in 2 minds and don’t know how to pick a preference. what do you guys think?
