my arm… it healed perfectly IMO, i hear what your sayin sureshot, i was a bit apprehensive about how it would turn out, but it was fun all the same. i’m a klutz, so i get injured a lot, and i like the way my skin heals, so i was pretty confident the results would be good. plus the guy i went to is one of the most renowned “scarificators” in the US. heehee.
Hmm… thats kinda kewl, but How do they do it, do they burn the pattern or cut it with a scalpel-like tool? and have you ever thought that maybe when you get old you might not want a tattoo or scar like that?
hey. yeah, that was done with a scalpel, two different ones actually, different shapes for different shape cuts. people do brand and burn to acheive scarification, but it’s more risky, both for your health, and the quality of the final result. plus, i don’t like getting burned, i do that enough when i blow glass…hehhehe.
as for when i get older, that is a good question, and one my parents love to bring up VERY often…lol… but here is my answer, to them, to you, to the world…
when i do body mods, it’s something utterly spiritual. one motivation is of course the aesthetic aspects, but it runs deeper with me. when i do this stuff, it’s a passage into an altared state of consiousness, and i dig that. each tatt, each piercing, marks something very personal in my life, and reflects not only the trials i have endured, but the fabric of who i am. like my ankle tatt. my mom and i actually have matching ones, and it is a symbol of not only our very close bond, but something we went through together, and the triumph we had through eachothers strength. and my scar… (which btw the characters mean passion, {not the sexy kind, the kind like zeal, or intensity}). i got that after something personal again, and it was a huge body mod to get… but see, the process in itself was a trial in a way cuz it was super painful, but it symbolized the tradgedy i had overcome, and my strength. so whenever i think of it, i am rememinded of my humanity, and the bad thing that happend, so i am humbled, and also i am reminded of my endurance, and my faith, and my overcoming it all, so that i am happy, and confident, and even more trusting in fate and god and myself.
so basically, the meaning behind the pieces is so important that i don’t think i could ever get tired of them, because if i did, in essence, i would be getting tired of myself. hehehe.
(sorry to make you read all that, i babble a lot about stuff)
I have a tribal art piece on my right arm that represents an eagle, I have a tribal piece across my back that represents a bat. On my right calf I have My moms tat (memorial piece) its a sillouette of a witch sitting on the number four that I encased in a tribal art piece.
I also have both my nipps pierced.
sweet fester. IMHO all men should have their nipples pierced. it should be a requirement. hehe
lol…
A requirement huh?
Like it should be done with the circumcision?
yep!!!
hahahah - I’m glad my mom didnt get that option from the doctor when I had the ol’ snip back in the day
Those images of your arm look prety cool golgi - they turned out great, espeailly the top one - I really like the look of it. Not enough to ever get one mind you, but they do look great I really would like to get a tattoo, especailly one that my girl and I could get together. They dont have to be the same but maybe just link in some way. I know it sounds stupid to get one with another person but it’s been 5 years and I know neither of us is going anywhere…
She actually did the same as you in getting a tattoo with her mother when she was 16. Her mother and her got the exact same one in the same spot - it’s really kind of cool how it represents so much to them.
thanks! and hey, it doesnt sound stupid at all, if ya know you’r gonna be together, then go for it. it will be very beautiful for you two!
a funny story… freind of my mom’s got all super drunk back in the days of 'Nam
…woke up with a smiley face tattooed on the tip of his… er… trying to think of a censored word for kirupa…
well, you get the point. lol
Ouchie
Im sure he had no problem keeping it out of the sun for 2 weeks so it could heal properly.
oh my god. That would be so painful… I could not imagine!
hahah that is funny…
speaking of tattoo pain…it’s not as bad as people make it out to be. for the first hour or so it hurts a lot but then afterwards all the endorphins in your brain start kicking in and you have this incredible numbness to pain. It’s great!! You’re like “well he’s poking my skin with a needle, but it doesn’t hurt that bad”.
or maybe i just have a huge pain tolerance.
golgi- I whole heartedly agree that all men (who can pull it off) should have their nipples pierced.
As for tattoes they are probably the greatest form of personal expression that I can think of.
I have a few! And one more that has been drawn for quite some time just no good place to put it!
The only thing I hate is when people have no idea what they want, pick something in five minutes and get it for the hell of it!

ew. dont know, dont care. lol. i don’t even have one of those and the thought of it makes me hurt!
The difficult bit is not washing the tattooed area for 2 weeks afterwards.
I had enough trouble with the one on my stomach…
yeha, but i’m not too sure how concerned he was wtih keeping the clarity of the thing…lol…
