Business Card

I just pulled this together this morning for print today, I can only use two colors. It is needed for a show I am going to in Las Vegas next week… what do you think???

Peace

cool!
maybe the height is a bit too big but still… cool!

yeha I noticed that in the post… the actual print size is 3.5x2 inches which is the right size… I dont know why it looks like that in my post. grrrrr:evil:

Peace

You should find your site before you think about making cards, it is all dependent on your site’s colors, name, and other miscellaneous things

yeah I know… I just have too much work right now. This is just a temp thing for this one show, just something to give to companies at their booths… I totally agree with you though. Pretty hack, but I have to have something.

Peace

pretty dope! :stuck_out_tongue:

.:: BUMP ::.

I’d seriously like some more input on this… I have a bit more time I found before printing, but only a few days and it is really important to me (the show in Vegas will have around 2,000 companies there [the largest convention in the US]). Input would be awesome, thanks!!!

Oh in case youre wondering the show is the SEMA show.

Peace

I think it is pretty sweet

Sema! My company goes there! Las Vegas, could it be any better?

I know… . I am sooo stoked to be going, should be a blast!

Thanks for the input guys!

Peace

What I would do:

I would put you URL in the upper left, rather than your company name (they are essentially the same)

I would add a telephone number, and fax if you have one…

I would remove the word “senior”… it is drastically over used, and can be viewed as “conceited” by some anal retentive designer… let your work do your bragging for you…

If the main purpose of the card is to get work, then your URL should be larger than the rest, and the design should mimic your site… If the main purpose of the card is to get your name out there, then your name should be larger than the rest…

You might also wish to add a line which explains what you do… like Flash AS, Photoshop, ASP, etc. cuts down on your card getting thrown in the trash 5 sec after they leave you…

Just remember, there will be thousands of people trying to do the same thing you are, so you need a hook… but a hook that isn’t just a hook…

never say, it’s just something to give to the guys at the booths…otherwise, you are just asking them to throw it away…

People who are impressed by you will remember you by your card, only if your card gives them a reason to remember you…kinda cryptic, but true…

=) From my years in doing print media…

very good input Rev… fax and phone: always changing as I am moving so thats why theyre not on there. Also I should have included this fact: I also made a “flyer” to hand out with the card too, it mimics the design of the card and lists all the spftware and languages I know. Your comments on the use of senior: I think I agree - probly chnge that!

Ok, the main point is to get my email/url out there… so youre saying that I should ditch the url at the bottom, make the Co name at the top the url and increase the size while decreasing the size of everything else? Thanks again for the input - I love outside oppinions from other designers.

Peace

PS I’ll post a new one after I make the changes.

in a nutshell… yup… =)

intead of a flyer… how about using the back of the card? Most people will not keep a flyer… takes up too much room, plus they are going to have a “bag” full of flyers… and a pocket full of cards…

I would still use at least a phone # ( I have moved a lot too )… people like to talk to the designer, get a feel how they work with people (the person you give the card may not be the person who contacts you for a gig)…

Rev, you always right a lot! and still look how many posts you got!:o

I am doing a site for a company that is going to that show. He said it was very expensive to have a booth there but it should be well worth the effort. Las Vegas is always a great place to be that’s for sure

As for your card, I really agree with the idea of making a 2 sided buisness card, I know it’s a bit more money but it’s really worth it. That way it’s got ALOT less chance of being thrown out if it’s upside down on a table and people are clearing space or cleaning up. Trust me, it sounds stupid but it’s true.

I also noticed you dont really have a logo - but I like the look of the “honey combs” on the card. Maybe you should try and put that into your design on the front of card as well

I know it’s not a lot of ideas but it’s a bit more on what has already been said - reverendflash seems to have summed most of it up!

yeah… thanks for the input!

I cant… well I should say wont… do two sided because this isnt my permenent card/logo/design, only for this one occasion, so I dont want to drop the cash for the printing… I agree I need a logo, and when I come up with one I’ll put that on a two sided card, this is like a bandaid just for this show - if I had cash comming out of my ears, I’d have it printed in 8 colors, double sided, on egg-shell linen! :stuck_out_tongue:

I really agree with everything you guys have said though… and the stuff that costs more (like two sided) will dfinitly be on my permenent card.

Any and all other oppinions welcome, cuz this stuff is really helping me plan for my next “real” card!!

Peace

PS here are the logos I am working on:

I like the first one.

Peace

I actually like #2

really? ok, why is that?

Im also workin on doing a more absrtact one, a small picture rather than thr initials of the Co
