Button movement

so im making this game where this little ant person moves around the screen. its a movie clip. and i have it moving around. now, i also want to make it a button. or beable to when i hit that movieclip with my custom made cursor it say splat. or something of the sort. so i tried to connect it as if it were a button to another frame. but it doesnt work. please help. im new at this forum place btw. so im sorry if its in the wrong place
