My apologies for the length of this post. I am trying to be as thorough as possible.
I am going to be buying a new notebook computer this week to serve as my backup computer and to take to client meetings. There are so many options available today that the decision has become difficult. As I have never owned a notebook before, I have no first hand knowledge of the performance and reliability of each brand. Any advice from the friendly Kirupa community would be greatly appreciated.
Here’s what I need from my computer:
- easily handle running Flash, Illustrator, and/or Photoshop at the same time.
- must be powerful enough to encode video (editing and motion GFX will be
done on my other machine. - excellent screen resolution (1240x800 or above)
- CD burner
- must be wireless ready
- priced under $1500 (that’s the tricky part)
- not an Apple
I can’t get a straight answer from anyone regarding the P4 vs. PM processor. The only thing people can tell me is that the PM will run longer while on battery power. Another concern of mine is Photoshop’s preference for having the scratch disks on a secondary drive. The options seem endless.
Thanks in advance for your input.
