This is my FIRST ever Flash game and itās thanks to this AMAZING forum and friendly/knowledgable members that I managed to complete it (normally spying on someone elseās thread!). Sure I have a few grey hairs I never had before, but thatās half the fun with Flash ā¦ and A/S! Thereās even some of of Kirupaās infamous snow in there, as well as the pre-loader tut.
Itās not as I would like it yet - needs plenty of tweaking for playback, but hell, Xmas is almost on us so thought Iād better get it out there! PLEASE tell me what you think - hope you like it :Ā¬)

It would be better to ask if he could explain how he did it, if he used a tut, the address of that tut, etc, rather than just come out and ask for source codesā¦

The main engine of the game was from an excellent tut @ http://www.wz2k.co.uk ā¦
I changed the A/S by using callbacks in the main timeline instead, and added some of my own touches - like the accuracy % and if statements at the end for the marksman award.
Iām still playing around with it at the moā, trying to optimise the playback, etc. so I may well post a stripped down fla. at some point.

great game! Funny plot (Elves being specialists in counter terrorism and arctic warfare). Iām trying to make a game like that but I want to add a bullet counter, so the player will have to reload, and Hit Points, so he can possibly die. Nice game and merry Christmas!

Butā¦ It has good intentionsā¦ For the game, it shouldnāt really lag that much thoughā¦ As a shooter type gameā¦ What processor intensive coding are you using? Are those penguins like, 500 lines?
Nick - Thanks. One of the tuts at the url I gave earlier is about reloading (Tut 6, I think)
Marz - Thanks also. Yeah, the lag is a pain. Iāve worked out what it is though - itās not the code, itās the graphics ā¦ If I take out the background trees and swap the barrels with a basic symbol it runs like ālightningā - well comparatively!!! Most of the images were created in 3D Studio Max then converted to vector format using Swift 3D (v2). Even with optimising the swf files created from Swift theyāre not expecially ācleanā vector images ā¦ Iām going to see what I can do about tidying up the trees and barrels (well, in my lunch-hour of course ;Ā¬) )and then will re-upload it :Ā¬)

i remember my first game, it was good for my abilities then, but now i could have made a much better game, keep at it and you will have a super cool game!!!
It really has a lag problem though. Have a look in your āasā and make sure there is not too much un-needed cpu-intensive code. :hangover:
Could it be the random snow as?, make sure that the number of snowflakes created is not too high.
Have you made any other games or projects?, iād love to see em! :hr:

I tried searching for that thread, but I couldnāt find it! Are you sure that thread didnāt get deleted?
sk8ing - thanx for the suggestions. As for more of my games/projects, Iām new to all this stuff so nothing yet, but Iāve started on my next game so will be sure to run it past the forums when it nears completion :Ā¬)
The puffin movement is scripted so you would have thought this would be better than the penguins which is tweened but doesnāt seem to be the case ā¦ Anyway - I have already posted my problems with the puffins in the action script forum so I donāt want to cross-post ā¦ not that any seems to be answering my āasā question - hint, hint ;Ā¬) !!!
