Cingular Wireless ::RANT::

Ever been totally ripped off and there is nothing you can do about it?

First off - I was a Cingular customer quate a few years ago. They began increasing my bill $5 a month because I was out of contract with them.

I said forget this and went over to AT&T where I had a wonderful four and a half years of hassle free cell service. A year or so ago my old buddy Cingular bought out AT&T. Oh well I said its been five years, perhaps they have changed thier awful business practices.

BOY WAS I WRONG

So my old phone was on the verge of death and in late January trotted down the cingular store to get one that worked for more then 30 seconds.

I am told that even though I am technically a Cingular customer through the merger, I need to switch over to a cingular plan to get anew phone or change anything on my account… thus loosing the bazillion anytime minutes I have gotten through the years as being a loyal AT&T guy.

I dont talk on the phone that much so whatever. Get a nice sony Erricson flip phone… pay my last bill - plus a connect fee - totals $116 after everything.

Everyone is happy.

Fast forward to today. I go to use my phone and I get a message saying that its been disconnected due to lack of payment. What the Hell?!

I call customer service and I am told I have a 60$ bill - about right considering I needed to put a few games on there :wink:

Go to use my phone again… Same message.

I call back. I am told that there was an unpaid $50 and change ammount and a $99 dollar charge from before when I was an At+T custmer?! total crap… they wont re-activate my phone untill all are paid. If I send it to the dispute department it remains disconnected until its resolved - which can take 90 days!!!

Oh yeah plus friggin a $30 reconnect fee!!!

So my first month back with Cingualr and they shut of my phone and then whack me with almost $275 worth of charges I had no choice to pay because I need my phone - then to top it all off make me pay a re-connect fee.

Screw you Cingular…shame on me for giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I know I did not owe them that money…
